Coach trips

Me and a friend are thinking of booking a local coach company day trips to Bath, London, Oxford etc. Then selling the seats. We have done several as fundraisers and they are always very popular.

Having difficulty in finding out if we need a licence or public liability insurance.....or is that part of hiring the coach out? Can anyone help please?

I would ask local coach companies as they are the ones who will have insurance and should know what it covers. I imagine a lot of their hires are to clubs or societies who sell on the seats to their members to at least cover the cost.

You may have to set up a charity or form a properly constituted club to get insurance. Other options would be to be a sole trader, form a partnership or form a Ltd company. I.e. insurance companies will want to know who or what entity is taking out the insurance.
