Am I allowed to rent privately and have my partner move in with me w/o her being on the tennancy?

I have been living in student accommodation for the last few years and am now ready to start renting on a more permanent basis. An issue I am having is that my partner is still a student doing a masters degree. I have spoken to some estate agents and they have turned me away due to the fact that she is a student. I earn enough that I can cover the rent by myself. She wouldn't be moving in with me straight away as my job starts in July and her masters doesn't start until September.
Am I able to set up the tennancy in my name and undergo all the credit checks etc, and then have her move in later and not include her in the tennancy agreement?

Depends on what your tenancy says. I've moved people in without landlord permission as tenancy said nothing about it.0

I expect you can but it would not be sensible for her to do that.0

Yes. There is no law about this.
Some landlords may take offence; most won’t.0 -
Look at it another way.
You are renting on your own and suddenly you meet another person and you decide to live together at your place. Dream come true.
Any agency/landlord does not need to know about your dreams or there fulfilment.0
