So I have a kitchen priced up by Howdens but they won't send me the list of items - so I have listed the items below as far as I can tell. This is for the units only with no appliances, taps etc
1) 600 h/l
2) 600 3 draw pan
3) 600 h/l
4) 400 full pull out karder
5) 600 oven housing 2 draws at bottom
6) 600 d/l
7) 600 d/l
8) 600 wall
9) 600 wall
10) 1000 wall
including all end panels, and filler panels? for 3 freestanding appliances inc worktops - 3.6m run and 1.2m run
Glendoven - £2400
They said I cannot have the itemised list because of data protection - we have sent it to the fitter and its upto the fitter to send it to you.

Get a price elsewhere ie. DIY Kitchens and compare the price that way.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Are they 15mm units or 18mm units?
Are you buying the goods or the fitter? Fitter using his account and then charging you?
If your fitter is using his account then he maybe maybe a few £ on top of the standard prices.
Price the same/similar kitchen up at Wickes and B&Q etc.
I have doubts about their tall oven housing being fit for the purpose. Its not that strong and the backing is lightweight board not the thick 18mm board my previous unit was made from.
I cannot see the Howdens kitchen lasting anywhere near as long as the original kitchen.
Its those little things you spot after its been used for a while. Worktops delaminating. The square section front is too tight a radius and not properly glued. Go along the front edge and tap with your nail, thud thud thud, click click... tap gently and you can hear it moving because its not bonded.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I did and Howdens is coming out about £250 cheaper.
It's either Altino gloss from DIY kitchens or Howdens Glendoven.
Howdens is 18mm carcass.
However is the Duropal worktop from DIY kitchens better than the one supplied by Howdens?
I do like the square edge profile on the Howdens worktop.0 -

Howdens are cheaper than DIY and Wickes - not priced up with B&Q as I am looking at prebuilt carcasses.
I assume the fitter will be buying through his account but we will pay him.0 -

If it's coming out cheaper then you've got a good deal from Howdens. I wouldn't have expected them to be cheaper.
You don't have to buy your worktop from Howdens. You can split your kitchen shop out from as many places as you want.
After 20 years of buying kitchens for ourselves and others, I don't believe that there is any significant difference between any of the brands being mentioned in this thread. DIY Kitchens have the benefit of wider choice, but I certainly don't believe that a Howdens kitchen would fail before any of the others. We've literally never had a call back.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks for that. I do trust my Kitchen Fitter and this is why after reading all about Howdens how they came out cheapest - this is before even haggling - this is the first offer they have given us.
The kitchen designer at Howdens seemed like a nice guy, he didnt push us on anything and said come back as many times as you like until your happy - he hasn't once chased us up trying to push a sale. He said before he could give a price he would confirm with the fitter. I suppose the fitter must have said full discount?
I have full faith my fitter will put in the units correctly - he's charging me £750 which I think is a fair price.0 -

Howden's are trade only, so this is how it works. Was there a question in your post?
Im not trying to be facetious - it's just it's unclear what it is you are looking for. If you are on good terms with your kitchen fitter, he/she may show you the price breakdown from Howden's.
Otherwise, if you are happy with the overall price, proceed on that basis.0 -

My question essentially was - compared to what I have read about Howdens how did they somehow come out cheaper with their first quote as it seem their pricing is about as flexible as a limbo dancer.0
