NASA? After all, they got to the Moon with that sort of gear, but now they have to re-invent everything, because they 'destroyed the technology.'
Don Petit: not the brightest button on the control panel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ac6Is89txnUI would kill for a 128MB module for one of my (old) computers, and there was a time when 16KB RAM packs were to die for... As for the old cameras, I collect (hoard ?) photographic equipment, much of it from the 70s & 80s.
Are you serious ????????
I could still get DDR1 128MB RAM nowadays.
If you want you could get DDR1 128MB RAM from me for £1,000 each.0 -

For such the item you describe, you could easily sell it on eBay as they are small and easily sent by post. Collection agent is not needed. But that is normally about 5 years old PC.
But definitely not for 1970 Computers, PC. Who need a 128MB, 256MB Ram (memory) nowadays ??
10y+ old system are fine for daily personal use.
As has been pointed out plenty of aging commercial uses.0 -
People might start stockpiling CD-ROM, 1GB USB 2.0 memory stick, 512 GB DDR2 RAM from now then. You could get this for £2 nowadays
You will never know this will be worthy a few thousand pounds in 35 years time from now.
Say you have stockpiled 1000 of them in 35 years you will become a millionaire. It is much better then any other investment product than you could see sometimes here pop up on MSE.
Only if in 35 years time people will actually want this stuff. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

Also if only very few people need it. How to actually spot, where to find those people who need it and want to buy it for few thousand pounds ?.
That is actually my point in the previous post.0 -
Sometimes it's fashion that makes something rarer.
When I was 10, an old man gave me a set of 12 very old books. They couldn't have been very rare then, because he had this duplicate set he didn't want.
Later, over in the USA, people began to 'discover their heritage' and buy these books, not to read, but to cut out the old maps and plates, frame them, and display.
Now, intact books are more highly valued, thanks to those who chose to despoil the others. My set was last valued at £2k; not a huge sum, but better than a kick up the bum.
I'd find buyers by entering them into an antiquarian book auction and hope that a university or a loaded history buff might be keen to have originals. Of course, nowadays, old books are often available for download, but it's not the same!0 -

Well, then you should start piling up books, Magazines, Clothes, Costumes in your house from now Dave.
Sometimes you could get them for free. Even if you have to buy it many books, Cookbooks, old magazines, Clothes you could be get them for less than £1 each in Car Booth Sale job lots, eBay collection in person, Gumtree, Charity shop. But mind you for this you will need a bigger house with bigger storage area where you could pile up all of that stuffs. Also need to be ready your house to look like storage / museum rather than a residential house, will be to be assessed by fireman for fire safety prevention.
Who knows in a few decades you could turn that stuffs to become a few thousand pounds, repeating your success with your childhood books ?? D:D:D:D:D:D
But indeed some of these stuff become valuable in the future. We have seen a lot of evidence in the BBC program "cash in the attic"
If you have thousands of them you will become a millionaire in a few decades. It will become of one the best investment tips you will; ever see here on MSE.0 -
No, thanks, it's been hard enough ensuring a safe storage place for the books all these years, and they all fit into just a medium sized cardboard box.0
