Would welcome some advice
Purchased a brand new TV from high street retailer via eBay 26 April
It was put into storage whilst we were moving properties. (Sealed)
Unfortunately I didn’t check it on delivery (lesson learnt :mad:
Upon opening I see that the panel is badly cracked. The packaging it came in is also damaged, unfortunately I didn’t see this on delivery either (it’s on the reverse side to the label) so where do I stand? It’s just over 30 days since purchase, it was delivered on 1 may. I paid via PayPal, but using my AmEx. I fear I may fall between PayPal protection/ chargeback but please suggest if otherwise. I have contact the retailer but am assuming they will absolve responsibility. My best guess it was damaged in transit. Highly unlikely by us after delivery.

I always check stuff immediately, even if it's not for me (my son has most things delivered to me as he's not home during the day, including a massive TV. Didn't just check for damage but also plugged it in so there was no doubt)0 -

I think you might have to accept that the retailer is not responsible for this, even if it was delivered damaged.
You could try taking the item back to one of their high street locations and asking nicely if they will swap it, but you wouldn't have any rights to demand a refund or replacement.
I know how you feel - we ordered a small telly for bedroom for £130, and I managed to crack the panel by applying too much force to the front of the screen when putting it onto its bracket! Cue much swearing.The comments I post are my personal opinion. I'm not sure that would work as the high street store is different to the ebay store.
No harm in trying though, I just don't like your chances OP.
why did you not check the TV when it was delivered or if not possible to do that then why not order when you had moved ?0 -
Based on what you say, there is no way of knowing if the TV was damaged when you took receipt of it.
It might have been damaged en route to you, but as it was unchecked there is simply no way of knowing. The fact that a month has elapsed does not help
Unless you can extract a gesture of extreme goodwill from the seller, then I don't see what you can do0 -
You have absolutely no chance - you could easily have damaged it in that month, and the seller has no way of knowing otherwise.0
