I feel vindicated in my ongoing assertions that I did not receive notification of the 2011 changes. Some people have been difficult and unbelieving, saying I was forgetful or even lying.

Doesn't make me any more hopeful of a result in favour of review, just makes me a lot less indignant.

I wasnt notified, but I knew anyway. Still dont understand how anyone wouldnt have known. it was all over the tv, newspapers etc. You had to be living under a rock, or out of the country.

I wonder if they started sending things out but then the challenge for the added length made a change in the time people had to wait. My original pension date was September 2018 (my 1971 working life start date was 2014 State pension) and the info that came with my work pension had that date, it then had a few years where it said they could not tell me (probably when the challenge was being sorted) then the online Government site said March 2020.

Surely the government is obliged to correct discrimination as soon as possible. I am sure the suffragettes wouldn't have been happy to be told "we will give you the vote - in 40 years time". The men were working longer. What is wrong with immediate ie no notice ending of discrimination?

I don't think many people pay much attention about letters giving information about distant events. Some do, some think it'll never happen anyway and some think that they'll sort it later again so do, most don't.

It is only when the event draws close that most pay any attention to the specifics.

It was only a period of ill health that led me to really start our planning- I always thought I'd retire at scheme pension age of 55, but when my wife also decided that she too wanted to retire at the same time as me that we looked and planned. She like me knew she doesn't want to do what we do for a living to 67.

Personally I don't have strong views about the current case, my older sister didn't have either she was born 1958 and said a few times "if that is the age I get my SP so be it, gives me the chance to earn a bit more and have the mortgage finished by the time I get my pension".

I think the idea that millions get a face to face interview would be a none runner, nobody would be moaning if mens SP age had been lowered- unless your young and starting out in work life!!!

    On this thread?

    I've found my letter.
It was dated January 2012 & gave me a revised date for state pension of 6th July 2018 (from 6th July 2017).
That gave me 5 years and 6 months notice of a 15 month change.

My OH (18 months younger than me) got a similar letter dated February 2012 notifying him that his revised state pension date would be on his 66th birthday.

I wonder why some people got a letter and some didn't - I'm not disputing that you didn't and I don't think I've said so on this thread.
There must be a reason why, even if the answer is a simple !!!!-up by DWP.
Just looked through my SP file and found both ours dated March 2012.

No, not on this thread and not by you.

Yes, seems that DWP have now been caught out in not sending letters as previously asserted.

And no, no letter in my files.

    i haven't had a letter from DWP

I'm male and not 40 yet

Because of this I have no idea when I get my pension. Oh hold on a second.....

IMO to use the 'i didn't get a letter' argument one must also possess the first letter they got advising them of the original retirement age.... if folk thought they would get their pension at 60 what were they basing this assumption on?
Left is never right but I always am.

Of course, I was aware of the 1995 changes http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1995/26/schedule/4/enacted

Now I'm getting my pension on 06 July this year.

I 'believe' (though not 100% certain) that I was unaffected by the 1995 act as I recall discussing this with a colleague who is six months younger than me.

Anyway... not much to be done now, debate is simply 'jaw jaw' and hardly worth the effort. I'm content.
