Hi
Have an netbook/laptop. MSI Wind U135DX from maybe 2012.
Hadnt used for a few years as running XP, but now thinking could be good for the kids...
Booted up quite quickly still with a good charge.
Installed the SSD from my other laptop, loaded/ opened up excel, performance was fine and have now doubled memory to 2gb (CEX 15p !)
Trouble is now realised the right side of the keyboard gives numbers and you need to press the Fn key for it to work.
Any ideas how to fix?
Thanks

??
Fix what?
Perhaps you can slow down a little and try to explain the problem exactly....including the OS you have installed.
Why would the kids need Excel? Older kids?0 -

Sounds like Num Lock is turned on. There might be an option in the BIOS to enable/disable it by default. (You beat me to it, that!)
Or look for "Num Lock" or a number in a box with a padlock (or similar) on one of the keys, and tap it whilst holding down the Fn key to toggle the setting on/off.1 -

I can read the words but cannot make head nor tail of what you mean. I have the same Netbook with SSD and no issues.0 -

If you look at the right side of the keyboard you'll see 10 of the letter keys have numbers on them. Press the NumLk key and they'll act like a numberpad. Normally that is turned off when the laptop is turned on but in the OPs case the reverse is happening so when pressing a letter instead of getting the letter they're getting the number that is assigned to it for the Numpad function. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Aaahhh....ok. Don't have the device with me at the moment. Will take a look later. Siesta time.0 -
Num Lock key is top right second key in, Ins NumLk, so press Fn and that key.
The indicator lights on the bottom right of the machine has a number 1 in a box, is that illuminated ?

Thanks to all that have posted.
Feel a bit silly... just had to click on the number lock key for the keyboard to work again!
Can't believe how well this machine performs with its old Atom N455 processor, running W10 on SSD!0 -
