Amber Light Help

Hi,

Probably a silly question but I need some advice on this.

Basically there was a queue of traffic. Lights were green and I went past the stop line and the traffic light.

Now there is a yellow box on ahead, and you obviously can be penalised if you enter. I stayed out of it, like I mentioned, past the stop line and traffic light. Lights were green when I went past.

I waited for a clear path and entered and exited when the lights turned to Amber from green.

Is this the correct thing to do?

Sorry if this is silly but there were two police officers behind me and they took a good look at the car.

I am wondering if I will have to wait 2 weeks to see if anything will come.

As far as I am aware you can go on if you are past the stop line and it turns to amber then.

I am just wondering if I shoulf have stopped completely and waited. Not the best place to stop really.

Do you mean Box Junction?
I suspect it depends, but the chances are, if the Officers were going to penalise you they may have well done so there and then (or they might not have been traffic officers).

Yeah, box junction, apologies.

They were a bit back going off into another lane, but I noticed them looking up. Could be paranoia.

I guess I will have to wait it out.

I don't think anything will happen of it.

You can't get done for running a red light as the offence is crossing the line when Amber (statutory defence if unsafe to stop) and Red. You must not enter the box junction if you cannot clear it before the red signal.

I suspect if they were going to do anything they would have done it then.
