I saw on ebay you can get kits for adding central locking to your car, after a lil searching I narrowed it down to this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10402&item=4554194229&rd=1
which I think will be good for my car, i emailed asking if its suitable for a nissan sunny and the answer was positive.
however I was just wondering if anyone has ever fitted these and if so, how difficult it is, I have never worked on my car before (however i build PC's so reasonably ok at DIY).
Also I'm pretty concerned about security, its probably not as secure as manafactures one, I mean what if theirs a device available that tries lot of different codes on the car to try and unlock it, this is probably more likely to unlock then cars with manfacturer provided central locking.

Any advice appreciated!. :)

Thx

    Hi,

I have been building PCs for over 10 years, and I have fitted central locking to a Fiesta, an Escort and a Corsa. I can tell you that car DIY is very different to PC DIY - particularly there is more voilence involved.

The fitting procedures would be similar to these:
    http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/shop/cdl_fitting_instructions.htm

The difficult bits are finding out HOW to remove the doorcards (quite tricky on some newer cars, easy on Ford/Vaux), HOW to run the wires through the door loom (super fiddly), and WHERE to find a suitable live wire capable of giving over 15amp safely.

The actual drilling, fitting, adjusting, connecting wires, hiding wires, etc are pretty easy.

Remember, dodgy wiring could easily cause fire.

By the way, I really don't consider central locking to be a security device - get an alarm!

yeah your right, I cant see how my doorcards will be removed, need to talk a autmotive minded friend.
Central locking was not meant to be for security, just conveniance, its just that i'm now worried about security as the wireless security is probably not that great, people could probably open the doors without much hassle if they were a pro.
