We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to reduce the price of petrol to a level that is within the range of other European Countries

Presently there are prices ranging from 1 Euro to 1 Euro 25 within most European countries. The price does not have such a high amount of taxation against it as with the British Government. If the price is levied against other European Countries, any taxes lost should not be recovered with invention of a new tax or increase other taxes.
Thought this was an interesting one. The Government has to give a response if over 200 people sign and they think it's a "serious" petition. No doubt the response would something we all don't want to hear or accept as a good reason, but it's probably worth putting your name to something anyway if you feel the need to.

So what taxes do you want to rise to make up the shortfall in tax revenue?

Income tax in the highest earners. Pursuit of tax evaders, particularly ebay traders who sell in very high volumes but pay no tax on their earnings. Closing of tax loopholes the richest people take advantage of. The rich people won't be happy but that's their loss.

So why use those savings to reduce fuel duty rather than say
    VAT
Relink the state pension to wages
Reduce income tax for the poorly paid
    Build more prisons
    Abolish IHT
whatever the current popular thing is etc etc
