Extinction Rebellion potential disruption
superlukey

Hi all
We are booked to fly to the US on 6th July from Heathrow and obviously very concerned about the news reports today regarding possible action by Extinction Rebellion. Our holiday company has been looking into alternatives eg Gatwick, but no direct flight and a lot more money as booking so late. Is anyone else effected by this?
Not sure what to do. Might just sit tight and hope that Heathrow get their act together (unlike Gatwick)....

Best solution: cancel, and take Eurostar to France instead.0

Except that we are flying to the US....0

I mean, nobody's affected by anything yet: the protests might come to absolutely nothing.
You seem to already have identified that booking alternative flights would be prohibitively expensive, so my suggestion would be to just confirm that your travel insurance would cover you in the event of disruption caused by protests, then go ahead and plan for your holiday as usual.
Perhaps consider taking public transport to Heathrow, in order to avoid roads that protestors might choose to block (the road tunnel through to T1, 2, 3 is the obvious pinch point.
My bet would be that the threat of significant penalties and the PR risk of disrupting people's holidays will cause Extinction Rebellion (whose aims I largely support, BTW), to try other tactics.0
