Could old rented tenants take the house I brought back?

    Mail is "correctly delivered" to the address on the envelope, not the name.

    Millsy has been sending it back but it's still coming.

    From what is in the first post, it sounds as if the old tenants are still giving the address as if they lived there.

    In Millsy's place, I would want to know what the letters were about to be forewarned of any likely problems caused by the old tenants.

    I would then send the post back to the sender, explaining that the house has been in new ownership for 9 months and that the other people haven't lived there for that length of time.

    Sale and rent back became regulated by the FCA in 2009. It is possible the tenants have a case against the firm who bought their house, if the transaction was after 2009. Even if successful, it seems most unlikely a court would try to undo the original transaction. I would not lose any sleep about it.

    You often get letters from a previous resident when you buy or rent a home. Just keep returning them to the sender. If they really are coming from solicitors you would hope that they would get the message eventually that the house is in new ownership.

    The previous owners and tenants have no claim on your property and are nothing to do with you. Tell them to stay away. Don't waste your time conversing with them. If they want letters from their solicitor they should give the solicitor their new address.
