Hope it was a better night and the boys are feeling better …

  • Thank you both. DS1 was sick yesterday afternoon, both were in bed by 7 and slept through until 8 this morning. The big sleep seems to have worked wonders as they're both much better this morning and have a bit more colour in their cheeks. They've both managed to have a little breakfast and are just playing quietly now.

We seem to have been unaffected by the storm and it's quite a calm sunny day here, if the boys still seem okay after lunch I'm going to take them out for a little walk to get some fresh air.

Other than that not much going on today x
  • Glad your boys are on the mend and that you've been unaffected by the storm :)

  • Thanks. The storm seems to have left us unscathed thank goodness but sadly I can't say the same for the bug doing the rounds, my turn this time 😐 got the boys out for a little walk yesterday afternoon as hoped but when we got home I got that churning feeling and have been wiped off my feet since.

Thankfully DH had planned to finish work a little earlier yesterday so he sent me to bed and took over with the boys.

Haven't been able to stomach anything other than water and a slice of toast around an hour ago. DH has a gig tonight so I've managed to get the boys settled before coming to bed. Hopefully a good night's sleep will see me back to good health in the morning 🤞 the little ones have promised to look after me while daddy has a lie in 😊

On the plus side spends have been low this weekend, DH spent around £7 on some treats for him and the boys while they watched a film earlier but nothing else needed

Hope everyone else is okay and not been too badly affected by the storms x

Hope you recover quickly and that DH's gig went well

  • Thanks SH. Had a decent sleep but have a splitting headache this morning, dehydration no doubt so will ensure I drink plenty of water today.
We've received £4.68 earnings from our bank account today, sent across to the free money pot which is now at £133.67.
The weather is miserable here so another lazy day on the cards, got a load in the washer already and need to empty the dishwasher shortly but hoping not to do too much more.

Sorry to hear about you all catching a bug, it sounds grim. 😞 It feels like my DS & DD have had a cough for about 6 months solid, it seems to go away and then comes back again! Of course in public they are then looked at as though they have the plague!!

You have done really well with your free money pot so far. 👍

  • Thanks @sashybo and yes, we've definitely had better half term weeks! My 2 have had a reoccurring non-covid cough too, I can almost guarantee it'll rear it's head again next week as it's usually a few days after returning from school holidays. You're right about the funny looks, we've had quite a few.

Both boys off today again due to a inset day, so as it's sunny but breezy here we wrapped up and went for a walk to L!dl to get a few supplies. They're both sharing an Easter egg while playing on their tablets while I catch up on here.

Looking forward to having the house to myself tomorrow as DH will be office based. Sadly the reason I'm looking forward to it is that it means I can give upstairs and the stairs/hallway a good clean without being distracted or worrying about disturbing DH while he's working!

I felt much better after lunch yesterday and ended up baking bread, chocolate cake and flapjacks. I'm much prefer cooking meals to baking but quite enjoyed making those yesterday with the assistance of DS2

Stripped our bed this morning so that's all washed and hung outside, we've had an easy lunch of sandwiches and soup and will be reheating the last of the steak pie I made a week or 2 ago for our evening meal, will just need to prep some veg so that's a quick win. Need to do a freezer stock take again and meal plan accordingly.

DH pay and CB both due in next Monday and the budget is holding up well again this month thanks to getting rid of my car last month and a bit more mindful spending. From next month I have allocated 10% more to the grocery budget as EVERYTHING we buy on a frequent basis has gone up. I'm continuing to keep an eye on our energy costs but we're on a fix until late June and currently £150 in credit so hoping we won't feel too much of an impact until later in the year. Our new, lower cost broadband deal has kicked in with a £50 voucher due from them early May and all other bills are as low as we can get them at the moment. The only unknowns at the moment are we're waiting to see what the new mortgage payment will be (although I have a rough idea), knowing what this years water bill will cost (due next week) and then the new Council tax bill from April.
