Just caught back up on your diary. You have been so disciplined sending the extra bits of £ to your CC. Sounds like you've done a fair amount of socialising too - good to ave a balance. Hope you are feeling better soon and that the treatment for SIL does the job.

  • Thanks SH I've got over the viral thing only to come down with a cold :( hardly surprising given how the boys in my house have been lately but hey it could be worse.

SIL is feeling a little more positive, the break from treatment is definitely doing her some good :heart2: She's worried this may be her last Xmas so we're going to have lots of family time as long as she's feeling up to it, my boys are the only little children in the family so they've been nominated as the chief happy distractions for everyone.

Not managed another NSD since my last post, but the spends were low and needed so no unnecessary spending. On the plus side this has led to a few little TT's sent across to the CC mean this is being chipped away little by little, need to look at the actual amount so I can see how close we're getting to the target.
Annoyingly the large amount confirmed in TCB still isn't payable  but the budget seems to be holding up well this month so we're still on track.
Found out today I'm getting paid this Friday instead of the 26th, DH thinks he'll be paid early too but unsure when.
We don't usually touch wages if received early at Xmas but may make an exception this year but only to make the debt payments that usually go out 1 Jan early. We're thinking it would be a lovely Xmas present to each other to be at £9,999 then can start the new year/decade with our new goals (still a work in progress at this time) so we'll see how things look this time next week :o

    Hey DITR,

Sorry to see you are still unwell, here is hoping you make a recovery quickly.

I can not imagine the position the family is in with the SIL, bravo to her for remaining positve in very difficult situation. It does sound like the family time toghether would give her a boost too whilst i am sure the boys will get up to mischief to create the distraction. How are the boys doing?

I echo the TCB amount ready to be paid, seeming to take forever haha. It is good to see that despite all the stuff happening around you that you are still so focused and this can only stand you in good stead for the journey ahead

    Take care :) x
  • I don't have much to add but hope you feel better soon, and thoughts to your family with your SIL xx
  • Thanks guys, much appreciated.

The boys are great thanks Dan, DS1 is getting very exited about Christmas so he's making us all smile. DS2 has a permanently runny nose but is charging around like a bull in a china shop as usual so he's great :rotfl:
I've still got the lurgy, think it's getting near the end now but it's just slowing me down so much, grrr!!!
To be honest the situation with SIL is currently the driving force for our debt busting, it's been a stark reminder that life is too short and we need to get on with doing things rather than thinking about doing them.
It also helps that the boys are so young too, so no pester power from them yet ;)
Still haven't had a NSD, with not feeling great I haven't done our normal weekly shop so we have been popping to Mr L's for bits we need on a daily basis. It's been a good way of getting out for some fresh air and we have stuck to our shopping lists so no crazy spending.
Taking the boys to a Christmas event at our local farm park tomorrow, so looking forward to that.
Food shopping planned for early Monday morning then time to enjoy Christmas. Planning on baking mince pies and biscuits Christmas Eve morning with DS1 as it looks like we're going to have a fair few visitors popping in. Going to do an alcohol free mulled wine in the slow cooker too as it makes the house smell amazing and it's a nice festive drink to offer to everyone. For those who want a alcohol kick I'll add a splash of port to their cups for a quick win.
So, just in case I don't pop back on here I'd like to take the opportunity to wish everyone who stops by a Merry Christmas :xmastree::santa2::rudolf::snow_laug and hugs to those who are struggling at this time of year :heart2: be kind to yourselves xx

Merry Christmas Dancing, aww it's so lovely when the kids start to understand Christmas and get all excited. My DS is still too young and doesn't really "get" Christmas yet and obviously DD has no idea.

Hope you have a lovely time with your family. The alcohol free mulled wine in the slow cooker sounds amazing. :T
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.
  • Good Morning.
Well we had a lovely day yesterday with the boys being very spoiled and lots of visitors throughout the day, planning on a quiet day today so have spent a little time working on the budget...
As the 26th is my payday I've moved my pay back into our current account and I then couldn't resist making manual payments to the debts so balances today are:
    CC -£6029
    Family Loan -£4700
    = £10,729
    Debt Offset Reg Saver £750
    £10,729-£750 =
    £9,979 :j:j:j

Me and DH are over the moon with this and I can't thank everyone enough for your support and encouragement since starting this diary (plus a thank you to those diary writers I lurk on but don't comment :o). Having a place to be held accountable in a supportive manner really has made us reconsider how and why we spend. We go through phases of losing motivation but try to keep plodding on and we really can't believe we've managed to get the debt below £10,000 by the end of the year - this really felt so out of reach when I first mentioned it and was on unpaid maternity leave.

Sending thanks and love and hope that everyone has had a peaceful and merry Christmas xx

  • Good evening, since the payday reset I had 2 NSD'S - yesterday & Boxing Day so at 2/29 (next pay will be paid 24 Jan as the 26th is a Sunday).
Surveys seem to have gone very quiet for me at the moment and no further debt busting activity planned until the new year so just a quick check in to keep me accountable.
Today me and DH had a silly row, we're both still under the weather and have spent more time together than usual with the Xmas break :o so I left him to it and me & the boys went to the shops & supermarket for a few bits. Total spends just under £30 including lunch and drinks so not too bad. DH still grumpy when I got home so just left him to it. He has a gig tonight and the boys are fast asleep so I'm sat with a bottle of prosecco and a tub of $ringles, can't guarantee there'll be anything left by the time I go to bed :rotfl:
Plan is to have a catch up on here before watching the Michael Hutchence documentary on BBC 2 tonight - he was one of my first crushes so a real nostalgia trip in store, perfect for this time of year (& while I'm still in DH's bad books) :blushing:
