                    Hi
Looking to open a second bank account I already have a nation wide one so want one which isn't part of the same group.
I can't find the article which says which banks are independent of each other ?
Anyone recommend a bank for a basic bank account, not looking to switch , just want an additional one.
Thanks

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/safe-savings/#tool is the MSE tool for checking which institutions are linked, although this is from the perspective of FSCS coverage, so even though two banks may have different licences to give separate FSCS cover, they may still be part of the same group and share some of the same technology.
However, Nationwide isn't linked to any others so you have free rein....!
Re looking for a basic bank account, the term 'basic' has a specific meaning when applied to current accounts (https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/basic-bank-accounts/) and access to these is typically restricted to those with credit issues who are unable to get a better account.
If you're meaning it in the sense of a simple unsophisticated product with few prerequisites and no charges then take your pick from https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts/0
