O/S Daily Friday 31st May 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunshine and clear sky - forecast is much the same for the next couple of days, with it being very warm tomorrow and Sunday.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night the gammon, egg, chips/salad and coleslaw. Tonight will be something easy for the menfolk, possibly omelette or stir fry veg for me.
Yesterday I was pleased with what I achieved even though I was out of the house from 9am until nearly 1pm. I'd got 2 loads of washing done and on the line and given the house a quick once over with a duster and hoover before I went out at 9am, I'd cleaned both bathrooms to. When I got back ate my lunch then stripped our bed and got bed linen in the wash, then pegged out to dry - I re-made the bed with other linen as I like to air the bedding in the airing cupboard before putting it back on the bed.
So on to today -
I'll be heading to the SM first thing to get the food shopping, once that's done I'll come home pack shopping away then tackle the ironing. I do need to do a few more jobs but will see how I feel.
I have already taken down the voile curtain in our bedroom and that's in the WM as we speak - once it's washed I'll put it straight back up as they dry really quickly and it's quite warm already.
Keep safe and well x

Still wet here with more rain to come but it is a bit warmer. It was really miserable yesterday with heavy rain most of the day.
Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday nmlc.
Glad your head is in a better place Speky.
Hugs to those in need.
Nothing exciting happening here, looking forward to my early finish today, I love a Friday!
Take care. XX0 -

Its a bit overcast here atm but meant to be nice later on, its reptile day at work again so lots of creepy crawlies and snakes etc there today, my friend at work has to take a day off each time they come as she has such a bad phobia.
My Friday tidier will come today so all tidy when I get in later, I did a wash last night too so will ask her to hang it out for me.
Lamb curry for dinner tonight which I made a while ago and its been in the freezer so an easy meal just need to cook the rice.
Specky glad your head is in a better place xxx
Have good days all xx0 -
Just how excited can one girl be about a long weekend off ....trust me its a lot
Yesterday was a real pick and mix. Taxi picked me up at 5.30am and dropped me off at 8pm  Was on the morning train for just before 6am to get to Tamworth for a change to Nottingham then just outside warrington it shuddered to a halt. Loss of power apparently so that was me missing my connection and getting there with just half an hour to find the venue and set up....thanks virgin. Once there though the course went so well and the group were amazing my 1am extra prep was actually really worthwhile and the feedback was lovely.
Today then....well I do have some work to do but its mostly invoicing and general catch up then a webinar to run tonight but I will mostly be sat on the couch whilst I do it. Weather is gorgeous at the moment and despite not much sleep last night I was happy to be up and start being busy doing nothing. Of course I do need a catch up chat with the chilli plants too which are doing so well
Food wise I am going to get back on plan and have something unidentifiable but lush from freezer two. Think I have lost weight with my crazy life lately which is always a bonus but need to sort my haphazard routines out.
Lovely to see you back nanny missed you loads and I'm hoping you brought the sandman back with you
OL 8lb is nothing but it sounds like I may have donated it you...sorry dont send it back though
Hey ma little welsh cake I must have missed DH being made redundant but just think of all the jobs you can allocate to him and a nice summer off will be very enjoyable for you both I'm sure
Holly enjoy your weekend with your brother
So major ramble there sorry but enjoy your day and keep smiling :A0 -
Morning everyone
A lovely sunny start to the day and the forecast is for a warm sunny day. I am going to walk to Tesco first thing. When I get back I will have a walk through the park and then sit and people watch for a while. It will do me good to be out of the house for something other than chores.
The weekend with my brother has turned into him picking me up Sunday and taking me for lunch because he is going to have to work tomorrow now. It is a shame because I won't see him again until the football season starts and my sister in law goes to watch Liverpool at home probably from October onwards.
Specky I'm pleased that you feel a bit better about things now.
OL sounds like you had a rubbish night, I hope the side effects of the medication wear of soon.
RR I shudder at the thought of the reptiles.
Have a good day everyone x0 -
Morning all
It's an early post from me, now don't anyone faint :rotfl:.
It's raining. Yesterday was glorious sunshine and the washing dried a treat, so I was hoping to have a similar day to finish off the holiday wash, but no chance at the moment. I also have lots of van stuff to sort and put away. Oh ! and the ironing basket is filling up too, but I don't think I'll get that bored today :rotfl:
I didn't have a good sleep last night as Mr Fix It was unsettled, I think a knock on the head with a soft hammer is in order for tonight if he's the same again :rotfl:.
I'm off to the surgery in a mo for a fasting blood test....... hence being up early, then on to Mr fix it's surgery to put in his script before coming home for some breakfast. I could really do with a cup of tea right now though !
Nelski thanks my BFF :A. The weather was lovely so lots of sitting out in the sun and I'm on your paint chart again. Enjoy the weekend off !
OL hope the tummy sorts itself out asap.
Hugs to all today.
Take care

Good morning all,
Back into a routine. Last night after work I went to the gym for a bit, phoned my gran, phoned my step-dad then was speaking with my mates for a couple of hours on xbox which was good fun and much needed I think.
No plans tonight, so I recon I'll do much the same. I'm interviewing 2 candidates today which I'm looking forward to. I like asking questions.
Paid today however it'll be less than what I am used to. I've been here for 7 months and they hadn't enrolled me into the pension scheme until now. So I've been used to receiving a set amount each month and now it'll be reduced by something like £100 as I'm paying into my pension as well as a backlog!! So I'll need to adjust my budget accordingly.
LameWolf - Lovely to see you back yesterday and hope MrWolf got on ok.
Nelski - Sounds like you deserve the long weekend. Enjoy sitting with the feet up
Nanny - Hope everything goes well today. Enjoy your meal when you eventually have one0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc, I'm exhausted just reading what you did yesterday. Hugs to all those in need.
We moved yesterday which was a bit of a struggle as I have dicky guts, nothing unusual, I react badly to stress and CHS'S behaviours yesterday was appalling. We shall be having words after breakfast.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all.
Yesterday I met an old friend for lunch and natter, I really enjoyed just sitting and chatting. He's a retired architect so we spent ages talking about all the new housing which is springing up round the Forth and Clyde canal. Some of it is just plain weird and some soulless. One area is called Mondrian after the painter and manages to remove any spirit from his work.
This friend is coming to visit DM this afternoon so I'll go out for some scones though I should probably make some instead! I'll also get myself out for a walk.
That's my Friday. Thoughts to all, happy Friday.0 -
Morning! It's D-Day! His plan is to go to work, have breakfast, and then come home again...My plan is to get to da chopper! No, actually, it's pick up a new handle for a garden fork [ it's going to sound weird but this is a beautiful old fork with very sharp tines that you can't bend, unlike every other fork i've ever had so I want to repair it] from an ironmongers [ the first one I went to didn't have one I wanted, only nasty plastic handles] and some BFB from the GC and get my car tax sorted out. Followed by potting on into final pots for some of the tomatoes.
I expect the OH is going to go a bit crazy this weekend so anticipating lots of staying up late and drinking to drown miseries/celebrate freedom...I've organised a few drinks with a good friend for Saturday night.
Speky, glad you're back on track..Nelski, ew, sounds like yuk travelling, have a faboolous weekend doing sod all!Holly, that's a shame, I think you need a surrogate family, enjoy the sunshine though! Nanny, thank you, I will tell him you said he had to
Hope you're enjoying life after holidays...can MrFixit iron by any chance?
Hope the results are good LM. Hugs for AOD and SO. And mehefins back and mare and Lainey...
Wotcha Missings...
Fizzy Friday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
