Balance Transfer & cancelling direct debit for previous credit card

Hi I’ve been advised that the full amount in my previous credit card has been transferred to my new % apr credit card. Is it ok to cancel my direct debit for payment to the old card as the full amount has been transferred and no debt outstanding? Thank you so for your help :D

Are you talking about a specific problem that as the balance is now 0 you don't want this month's direct debit to be taken as the result would be to put the account into credit or are you talking in more general terms?
Normally there is no need to cancel direct debits. There have been so many threads detailing problems which start 'I cancelled the direct debit' but never a thread complaining that a credit card company has taken a direct debit when nothing was due.
As a general rule, do not cancel your direct debit. Surely you will need it next time you use the card. Perhaps some trailing interest will appear on next month's statement if interest was being charged on the current balance.

I'd second that. Leave all your DD's in place for at least a couple of months to make doubly sure that everything is transferred and cleared. Even then, there is nothing to be gained by cancelling the old DD, especially if you still actually HAVE the card, even with £0 balance. I'd only cancel it if I was actually closing the CC account down completely, and even then i'd wait a couple of months before doing so, just in case.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
