e.on RHT tariff withdrawal
I've just received a letter from EON about withdrawing an older tariff, my RHT one. In September 2016 as part of the simpler meter project e.on were going to exchange my OP3 (14.4 hour) meter for an Economy 10 meter but was informed that the work was being suspended. I also received assurances that the current meter setup and tariff would not be changed. Before contacting e.on I was wondering if anyone else had received a similar letter and what options they were offered?

We've had the same bleaklow - at the moment we have an RHT tariff and have economy 10 but it's split so that only the heating gets the extra five hours in the daytime boost (we've got to meters and three readings). I've telephoned EON, they intend to change the meter by September - you have a choice of a normal meter, an economy 7 meter or an economy 10 meter.
The problem is the 'new' tariff that accompanies the change - we are in the Eastern region and the rate for economy 10 is:-
23.56 standing charge (current tariff 15.64)
21.59 day rate (current tariff 16.18)
13.07 cheap rate (current tariff 8.27 for night/heating)
I was shocked when they told me the difference - it makes over £750 a year difference to our bill and that just seems wrong. I queried how they were able to get the passed through the regulator and was told that it had been approved as a 'business decision'!! I suppose once they change the meter we will have the option to go elsewhere but it seems as if they want rid of economy 10 customers, the economy 7 rates were slightly cheaper but by the time you factor in having to add extra heating to cover the late day time then it's going to make very little difference to the massive rise in price.0 -

When you deciding remember if you opt for E10, very few suppliers offer this and you can't use the switching sites to compare prices unlike E7.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Hello bleaklow and welcome to the Forums.
As captainkirk says and in the link posted by ET51, I can confirm we're sending out these letters to customers with Restricted Hour Tariff (RHT) meters. We're phasing out these meters and are offering customers the choices captainkirk mentions. These are Economy 7, Economy 10 or single rate.
I've put some more details about this project on the same linked thread. I suspect much of what I've said also applies to your situation. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.
