I've locked my card

I accidentally entered my PIN number wrong three times when using my Sainsburys credit card at the shop. I can't remember exactly what the machine said, but I used a different card to pay.

Is the whole card/account likely to now be locked or will online card payments still work? I use it for my weekly online shop.

I know the obvious answer is to ring them, but I'm not able to at the moment and I can't find anything online about it.

Normally you just go to a cash point and put the correct PIN in, this then unlocks it.

But if you screw it up 3 times at the ATM, it'll confiscate it?

You'll still be able to use it as contactless for now.
    Possibly not for online shopping.

Why not? You have online access to pose the question on this forum but no access to a telephone?.

The PIN has been locked, can't see online purchases being blocked too. You could use another card if your concerned.

Just go to an ATM and unlock the PIN or ring them, they should be open late or can you login and see if there's an option for a PIN reminder.

There's this on the Credit cards support page:

    You asked:
What should I do if my credit card PIN has been locked?
    Our answer:
If your PIN is locked you can unlock it at a cash machine.

    This suggests not:

    You asked:
If my contactless card is lost or stolen, can the person that finds it keep using it?
    Our answer:
If someone makes several contactless payments in a row, they'll be asked to enter the card's PIN for security purposes. And contactless payments can only be made on single purchases up to the value of £30. To buy anything above that amount, the cardholder will be asked to make a Chip & PIN payment in the usual way.

    The OP actually asked:

In my experience of other cards, it is only the physical card that is blocked (and as noted, contactless might still work). One time I did the same thing as you. In my case the PIN was "correct" but I was using the wrong card! It was weeks before I bothered to unblock the card as it wasn't one I normally used in shops. But I did use it online successfully.

I was in a room with a sleeping person and wasn't able to leave them. :) Sorry I clogged up the forum with a not very important question.

Thank-you for your answers. Online purchases are still going through fine, I'll get to an ATM at some point over the weekend to unlock it. It doesn't have contactless but I don't use it much other than online.
