PEUGEOT 207 Keeps running after key is removed
Appreciate and help ...
My 56 plate 207 (TDI) has had a problem for a while where when I take the key out it keeps running. The dash lights remain on and to stop it I have to stall it in a controlled way and disconnect battery or the battery drains. The car will start normally but the problem will persist for a time (sometimes weeks).
The dash lights and radio will also come on randomly without the key in the ignition ... normally when we have had rain or it is damp.
I have had the fuse board replaced but this has not resolved the issue.
Any advice would be massively appreciated.

I would of thought the issue would be with where the key goes would be the first place I would look, not the fuse board. Take off the cowelling around the steering column to see if any of the wiring is broken, or hot wired... have you had the car long?0

Hi Yes had it about 7 years .... but worth a check .. its just weird how it always follows wet weather .. thanks0

Sounds like wet getting into the electrics somewhere. Probably worth checking all the drains are clear from around the bulkhead / windscreen area as well as what foxy says above.0

Thanks Jackmydad .... yea done that ... someone had suggested new ECU unit ...?0

Just looking online it seems that the ecu problems are down to coolant getting in the wiring (so not rain??), and the faults listed aren't the engine not turning off.

I'd be looking at the switch and associated wiring as foxy says first.0 -
Cheers will take a look ....0
