Your insurer will not be using manufacturers original parts at retail price so you wasted your time. When they send their assessor to look at the damage they may decide it is not a write off and only pay out what it would cost them to repair it less the inflated excess. Your policy no doubt states that they can use non original or used parts for the repair, especially on an older car.0
