Switching banks with CASS

Hi Folks. Want some knowledge from those who have gone through the Current Account Switching Service (CASS) as about to hit the trigger to change bank accounts. I am with Santander with a current account, savings accounts and a credit card which I manage via the Santander web site from my PC. Using CASS I understand my current account will be closed once the switch to a new bank account is complete.
What happens to the credit card and online access via the Santander web site? I assume both will still be available to me as CASS only affects current accounts. I expect the current account part of the Santander web site will be locked or removed so I will just see the savings accounts and the credit card so I can still use these to manage payments or get statements.

Your assumption sounds correct but you better confirm it with Santander.
Also, if any of your savings accounts pre-reqs a Santander current account, you shouldn't switch it.
You might do better setting up a donor account and switching that one. Santander will normally allow you up to 5 current accounts (though only 1 x 123 now).0 -
I switched away from Santander a year an a half ago, and I still have access to their online banking portal even though I hold ZERO Santander products - it's just a blank portal when I login with a few error messages saying I have no account to access. I actually managed to take advantage of their recent refer a friend incentive and generated some codes to refer others to Santander!
Assuming your credit card and current account are two separate products, closing your current account shouldn't affect your credit card (or vice versa) - in this situation I suspect no changes will be made to your online banking access with respect to your credit card.0 -
Many thanks for the replies - much appreciated.0
