Paid for a parking ticket for wrong car park but same company!
Meganelizabeth
Two weeks ago I parked on a RCP car park surface and paid via their website for an all day ticket. Came back to my car to find a parking charge stuck to my window. I was obviously annoyed because I had payed for the ticket that morning. So I contacted them explaining the situation and they got back to me saying that I selected the wrong car park on their website. But I just thought all their car parks in that area was called the same name. I just assumed it was that one. The other car park I paid for was only directly opposite where I had parked (same company). Am I in the wrong??? I still paid £6 towards RCP. It’s not like it was a different company??

Who are RCP?
Have you based your forum username on your real name?
If so, you would be wise to get your forum username changed to something very much more anonymous.
To help with that, you might like to read this short extract from The MSE Forum Guide - Frequently Asked Questions & Rules:Q. How can I change my username?
A. In most circumstances, this is not permitted.
The only reason we will change your username is if it puts your privacy at risk. This usually means you've inadvertently registered using your name, email address or something that gives away your identity within your username.
If you fall into this category, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com and request that it is changed, giving three alternative usernames in order of preference.0 -
Everyone is asked to read up on this in the newbies faq thread near the top of the forum before starting a new thread
Go there now to learn about the game you are now caught up in and how to deal with this
You will see that irrespective of the particular issue you have the process is formulaic0 -
Basically if RCP are only managing the car parks for two different land owners you paid owner x instead of owner y who received no payment.
Of course if they are the same owner they are not out of pocket providing the payment was correct or over.
Was this Broadway Crawley by any chance?
However if the signage is confusing or doesn't conform you could win at POPLA (they are BPA members) with a carefully worded appeal.
Their website Terms and Conditions are very poorly worded I wonder what their on site signage is like.
It says you cannot transfer tickets between vehicles but nothing about between car parks, in fact it doesn't actually tell you what you can get a PCN for:
https://www.rcpparking.com/terms
As Quentin says you need to follow the guides in the newbies thread, your goal is to get a POPLA code.
Use the appeal on here to start, your phone call was not an appeal, never phone a PPC they aren't interested in helping you only scamming you.0 -
No-one would pay this, and if RCP are in the BPA AOS you might be able to show enough aerial view and photo images, plus a screenshot o your payment to RCP at xxx location, to convince POPLA it's confusing.
If not, still no-one would pay!
What you don't do is appeal blabbing about being the driver, of course, and nor do you appeal until day 26, as the NEWBIES FAQS thread explains.a parking charge stuck to my windowPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
