I didn't say that a Letter of Authority WAS faked M'lord. I said that the signatures sometimes MAY NOT quite match an original. This MAY be a very small percentage, but I MAY have seen some examples. If the OP is in any doubt, then submit the SAR for peace of mind.

Why would you SAR the bank???

SRA is irrelevant, all CMCs are now fully regulated.

Your Grandma should submit it to the claims management company. This will show what she has agreed to with them. She will have to had signed something for the company to proceed, as they are unable to accept verbal instructions. It would be worth asking for copies of any call recordings although its possible / likely that they won't have these as, believe it or not, its only a recent requirement that they do.

There is no fee for her to pay and the CMC must reply within one month.

They actually have 40 working days to respond.

Sorry to disagree, but that was pre GDPR

The other detail that will change with personal data access under GDPR is how long companies have to respond to your request. Under the Data Privacy Act, companies had 40 calendar days to respond once they received a request. Now, however, they will have to provide the data within one month of receiving the request.24 Apr 2018
