I suppose at just over 3p a day of initial interest being missed out on you'd have to weigh up whether the 20 min phone call is worth the time saved.

It's just jogged my memory that when I tried to apply online for a new RS immediately after the funds matured into to the flexible saver, the account portal wouldn't let me.

I phoned them to ask what the problem was and at that point was told I could apply over the phone but as you say that it would take about 20 mins.

Decided not to bother and wait until the online application option allowed me to proceed a couple of days later.

The quicker way is to open a new one over the phone which can be done immediately upon maturity. This in effect causes the maturity to be actioned quicker as the call handler takes control by closing it down within the system enabling the new one to be opened. Not all call handlers are aware of this, but persistence works. The only downside is that is takes about 20 mins of listening to drivel/statements with constant "are you happy to proceed" type questions.

Confirmed. They'll even bring forward the maturing funds so that you've got funding for the new RS.

And the number is an 0800...:)
