O/S Daily Wednesday 29th May 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly, and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Misty start to the day here, still a bit damp after the rain last night, we had a while of sudden heavy downpours and some time of steady rain - garden and plants seem to have survived though, forecast says possible further showers today - we'll see.

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, savoury rice and tortellini in creamy tomato sauce - all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight will be egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, beans and mushrooms - this should help use up the LO bits from the fridge.

Yesterday was as expected, was very slow to start with but then went either manic or reasonably steady - last working day for me this week due to BH - but I'm working Saturday morning. I have a "to do" list as always which I'll start tackling on my days' off.

Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun has his hat on this morning and we are not due any rain until tonight. Yesterday we escaped it altogether despite it being forecast.

Nice meet up with my friend yesterday. Non-stop talking as usual and, despite my intentions of ordering something different, once again it was the Broccoli Cheese Bake. Oh it's so tasty!

A peaceful start her as no DGDs until early afternoon - a reprieve! I got it wrong! DD is working a late shift so they will be here the rest of the day and a sleepover too as she is on early shift tomorrow. Not a lot to report from Lourdes and eldest DGD. Apparently all is going well!

Need to get something out to defrost for the girls' tea. It may well be pizzas! Probably fish for me.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. SILVER-OLDIE much love to you. Take care all xx

Lovely and sunny here but I think there's to be rain later on. I got the grass cut last night so it looks a lot better out there. Also took the hoover on an outing - it went out to the car - I really shouldn't eat sushi in there!

Work yesterday was so busy I was exhausted, more today I would imagine.

Thinking of those with worries, take care. XX

    Morning all

Looks like its going to be another lovely day here, off to work for me and my colleague is off this week, I have a 17 year old girl with me who is lovely and chatty but has no idea what she is doing, I asked her to get a potato peeler and she diddnt know what one was, once we had found it she asked me how you peel a potato , then when I asked her to peel the hard boiled eggs she tried to do it with a potato peeler it was like having another client to teach but she was lovely and did pick things up quickly, she has just never been shown how to do anything.

Not sure about dinner tonight but I quite fancy a Jacket spud, there is a pizza for OH if he wants it but he would probably have a jacket too.

Specky I hope you are ok and yesterday at work went well xx

SO and AOD thinking of you both xx

    Have good days all xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a damp and dreary Devon here this morning. I was up as usual in the night for a few hours so will try and have a nana nap later on although we have the grandchildren here for the day as their mum is working.

No sign of the birthday girl, she went out with her friends and I went to bed before she came back home. I look forward to hearing all about her night later on.

I will go and get some pork mince out of the freezer to make dirty rice for dinner tonight. It's not really one of my favourite meals but everyone else likes it. Lee wants to make some cream puffs today as well so that is their dessert sorted if they come out well.

I didn't get round to ring the nurses yesterday so that is my top priority this morning. I had a call though saying my new mental health worker is coming to meet me tomorrow so I am cautiously optimistic that I will have someone I can talk to about the difficult things. He sounded very nice on the phone and understood that he would have to come and visit me at home. Fingers crossed we get on.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning everyone.

Yesterday was a bright sunny day until the rain started. I drove out to Mugdock country park for a walk as I don't really enjoy walking around the streets. Didn't do too much walking as I got distracted by a craft shop!

Today I'm going to go on a local organised health walk, it's only a short'ish one so my knee and hip should be OK.

I hope that everyone has a good day, happy Wednesday to all.

    Morning All,

Dull looking and rain forecast for later.

Need to pay a few bills and will go and visit my mom too.

According to the weather forecasters we are supposed to hit the high temps of 30deg at the weekend.

    Have a good Wednesday.

    Morning everyone

I need to pop out first thing and post a couple of parcels but it is raining quite heavily here at the moment, hopefully it will stop soon or I be soaked. While I'm out I need to get a couple of bits in the supermarket hopefully before it gets too busy.

Unfortunately I'm not in a good place right now. My mood is really low and I seem to be stuck in a really depressive cycle. I'm worrying about the future a lot and I don't think that is helping. There isn't anything that can be done with medication or treatment so I've just got to hope that when we get some better weather and I can get out more I will feel better.

OL I hope your day gets better, it sounds like you have a lot on.

Silver Oldie I was sorry to read your post about your mum. I had a difficult relationship with my mum as well. since she passed I have just tried to focus on the better times and have found it helps me

Nelski and Specky don't work too hard.

Camelot I hope that it is a bit quieter at work today, coming home exhausted isn't good.

Gers it was good to read that things are going better at home for your mum now.

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all! When de-weeding yesterday I broke my new old fork, so the handle needs replacing...It will get replaced but I'm loathe to do it myself because I don't want to ruin the fork end of it because I'd have to get the angle grinder out. It's such a good piece of metalwork and so much easier to use than the new style ones, the tines always bend.

Bed 1 is finished, nearly killed me because I had to cut a piece of wood to go underneath one of the sections, which just brings home how feeble I am at the moment. Some beans are out though, so that's good. Will organise greenhouse today. Also have to go shopping, pick up a prescription and go to fat club after. Busy day...
For the last couple of years my mothers calla lillies outside haven't flowered because they were mashed by snow and unseasonal frosts. Thought it was going to be the same this year [already bought a fleece protector for next year] but this year, I have two perfect white lillies on there. Very happy. They're such beautiful flowers.

SO, many hugs for you, same to you AOD.Holly, know what you mean about the future, it's a big scary uncertain space at the moment, hope you can hold on for good weather. Did anything come from the volunteering application? TA, enjoy the pizzas, take it easy! Gers, enjoy your walk! dumpling, good news about the health worker. Good luck with the form |OL, I sprinkle fairy dust in your direction :)

    Morning.

I've been hopeless about posting these last few days. Steve hasn't been very well since his chemo at the weekend, hopefully he'll pick up today. That has meant that everything has fallen n my shoulders, including walking Ziggy every day. Anyway she has gone home now , I hope she is ok in London because she's been quite nervous walking around cars since her accident last week.

Everywhere downstairs needs vacuuming today now she has gone. I'll clean the kitchen floor as well. I also want to go across to see Crystal and take the baby quilt for her sister. Chris has got three days left in Wales and then he will be at home during the week from then on, he can't wait.
