Motor legal protection-Stand alone policy?

You can try http://www.freemotorlegal.co.uk/ but remember they will likely only take cases where you have a realistic chance of winning (as do most of the paid for ones).
This is not a personal recommendation - please read the T&C's carefully.0 -

Just about to renew for my third year, £9.99 each year.
Just read the details of what is offered and decide if that meets your needs.

Thanks everyone.
Got RAC motor legal protection for both cars £15.
Covers up to 5 people if they live at the same address.
You don't have to have RAC breakdown cover.0 -
Yes, I recommend them!0 -
Just doing some research in motor legal:
Memonline has a barebones website, they are FCA registered, however they are underwritten by LIM/ RSA, both of whom have not so desirable feedback
freemotorlegal has been mentioned on here, but it seems their FCA registration has lapsed:

I am worried you do get what you pay for and memonline may not be the firm one would look for, with their reputation for their underwriters. Think I will stick with my insurers, unless people actually have experience of claiming from them"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

The trouble is that motor legal cover from a regular insurance is terrible value for money. I have been driving since about 1986, and have needed the insurance just once.If you do need them, they won't take on a claim unless they think they can win. Even though you've been paying them for years.Essentially, you're paying a yearly retainer, just to keep a lawyer on call, who will decide for themselves whether or not they want to take on your case if you ever do have a problem. That's why I switched to MEMOnline. If they are rubbish, then at least they are cheap. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

I get the impression that motor legal third party are Accident management companies, trying to milk as much out of the other at fault party
Bare in mind Memonline is the same in terms of their policy of taking you on and having a chance to win which is no different to others: At least a 51% chance of you achieving a favourable outcome

Personal preference though, yes it's cheap but I'm concerned why though, with RSA involved, I would rather it works out well than finding constant walls when seeking help"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
