Because some were joint accounts and they've reported the split ever so slightly differently to my spreadsheet. E.g. where the interest came to say £20.05, it should technically be £10.025 each. I've say, recorded it as me £10.03 and DH £10.02, or visa versa.

So like I said, pennies. I can't be bothered to see if DH's HMRC account has the other pennies in it!!! He's well within the threshold anyway.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Which is fine, unless the drive packs up or gets corrupted, as happened to my brother.

I would encourage anyone to keep a back up

the ubs storage sticks are very cheap these days.

They are, but you need to have a routine of periodically updating them, and you need to ensure you have them in a different physical location from your PC so that you don't lose data in the event of e.g. a house fire.

This kind of stuff makes cloud backup services attractive.

This made me laugh ! I shred stuff once I've read and checked it. The only things I keep are receipts, guarantees and Tax related stuff, but I only keep those for 12 months. Can't say I've ever needed anything from 6 years ago !

I am still a little nervous of using cloud services but I am looking at it over the next year.

I am starting a new job, working away from home. Thinking time for me to look again.

I should be okay as long as I dont take a pic of myself naked.

    I agree

But my passport was stolen in the post, on the way for renewal.

Then last week filling in a new visa application for my new job. Asking for my stolen passport numbers. Thankfully I scan the last page of all passports..

Well, there are certain kind of papers which should never go to shredder, e.g. birth certificates, high school/degree certificates, driving licenses, etc. But I am not certain I should keep forever CC bills.

Scan in, if you cant download then just save to a winzip file. This can be pass worded for your protection. You can then look back in pleasure or anger.

I would keep three months handy in a drawer as this is always useful for proving id and address etc.

Some banks allow both paper and online. But others are proving more difficult Halifax for instance.
