Inherited car - Keeper vs Owner?

My father died a few months ago with myself and my sister named as executors. We recently received grant of probate.
He had an old but working car and I decided to keep it and use it so I registered and taxed it as the new 'keeper' right away.
Now months later do I need to do something to also become the owner of the vehicle?
DVLA don't seem to care as long as I am the keeper and the VC5 does not show ownership.

Do I as executor need to sell or give it to myself ?
If so who/how do I tell that this happened to make it official?
Book value is only 400 or so but my insurance policy states I am the owner of the vehicle so I want that to be clear legally.
Any ideas?

I suppose you can both sign/date a letter as joint executors to yourself confirming that the executors have transferred the vehicle to yourself.

When I did this I like you did this I got it transferred to myself as DVLA registered keeper with a new V5.
I was sole executor and beneficiary
Then I sold it back to the dealer whence it came from armed with the V5 in my name and address with no hassle at at all and no further paperwork to show to anyone.

Myself and my sister are executors and beneficiaries.

If we don't need to register a change of ownership with the gov then I suppose if the executors write and sign a letter stating transfer of ownership to me then I will have my proof of ownership if anyone ever asks for it.

I'd bet they would care about legal ownership, if it was a classic Ferrari worth half a million quid. ;);)
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
