Hi OP
If i read your post correctly you own the property in joint names but with a Dec of Trust in place, is that correct?
If there is a Dec of Trust in place this usually defines whom owns what percentage of the property, or whom gets what back first in the event of a future sale - ie he may get his full deposit back first before any other equity split 50:50, or what costs you owe are taken from your share etc
If your paying him back, as in you are reducing your "debt" to him (is this the 80k he considers as owing?) then I would be somewhat concerned that you are "paying back" this money but your percentage in the house you own is not changing.
For argument sake your Dec Trust just deals with the deposit he put in, so he gets that back first, say you "owe" 80k. but each month you give him £1k, after 80 months you would owe nothing, but would not be reflected in what the legal docs say, in the event of a split he refers to the Dec Trust on title to the property, and he still gets back the first 80k even though you've technically paid this back to him.
It will depend on what was agreed on the Dec Trust. You should have had some independent legal advice at the time of purchase which set our exactly what was being agreed.MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

I’ve just read the old threads.
This man has been bullying and verbally abusing you for years. Pressuring you to keep up with his spending while berating you for not being able to is just completely controlling. He’s got you right where he wants you hasn’t he?0 -

Think they're as bad as each other. It's more Jekyll and Hyde than Romeo and Juliet.0 -

I haven't read the old threads, but the man from what is here sounds like a complete knob!
Refuse to travel at expensive rates etc.
Personally I would dump him.
I bet if the truth be known he is living on credit and up to his neck in debt.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100/100miles
