Structural engineer

Does anyone know what certifies whether someone is able to act and give advice as a structural engineer?

I am investigating a structural report from a company. I cannot get in touch with them, as they do not pickup the phone. They did however on two occasions replied with text messages. There website ads it’s under construction. Alarm bells ringing. I question the validity of the report and the qualifications the person has to conduct it.

Exactly. I have searched for them there and they do not appear registered.

That site only has individual engineers, not companies. Do you have a name for the engineer who did the inspection/report?

It will be the individual (working for the company) who could be an accredited Chartered Structural Engineer, not the company itself.

FWIW, anyone can call themselves a "Structural Engineer", it's the AMIStructE, MIStructE or FIStructE after their name that indicates that they are chartered.

And anyone can do a structural report, just like anyone can do a survey report. (And the report might be rubbish.)
