Morning folks.
Could be sunshine today which means I will go out for a walk. Yesterday was fairly wet and cold.
DM spent most of the day on the sofa, did a few walks up and down the hall and ate loads. I went out for her beloved fish and chips, the fish was so enormous I can't imagine anyone finishing it. She tackled it well though half is in the fridge for today. Mind you, there are so many bits in the fridge, she hates to throw out anything.
I didn't do the assessments yesterdayso today's the day. I've got one 'left-over' student to watch give a presentation at lunchtime, fingers crossed the VC code still works otherwise we're stuffed!
TA - best to eat what you fancy! Nothing wrong with the same thing each time.
ILC - yes, it was me. Love my fly flots.
My thoughts are with all those struggling. Happy Tuesday to everyone.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
So far it is dry outside but it looks very grey overhead. Today is my Lilly's 18th birthday and of course she is still fast asleep. When she eventually emerges there are a pile of cards and presents for her to open, one of the advantages of coming from a big family.
Phoebe has just made me a cup of tea and she is waiting to see whether she needs to go into work today. Lee is also fast asleep but will come downstairs in about an hour's time.
I am waiting for the shopping to be delivered as I am doing a little tea party for Lilly before she goes out with her friends for her first legal drink. She won't get drunk as she has a phobia of being sick so I don't have to worry on that score.
We are having chicken burgers and chips for dinner tonight as I found several packs when we sorted out the freezer over the weekend.
Nothing else much to report, I will be ringing the nurses about my legs today when the surgery opens as they are so painful at the moment and I am rapidly running out of dressings.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning! Sunny when I woke up, clouding over now but nice all the same..It's the big plant out today, I need the tray for the tomatoes in the greenhouse.
We have have also agreed to have a fence put in at the side temporarily, means I can get rid of the rickety one at the side and have somewhere to put the bin out of the way, an somewhere besides the porch for the recyle boxes, which means there can be a couple of shoe racks in there instead for the army of shoes we have. I only ever had three pairs of shoes [ 1 pair of docs, 1 pair of sandals, 1 pair of baseball boots] until I developed plantar fasciitis years ago, then I had to buy what I term my spaccy shoes, of which there are many more than 3. OH's idea, he's getting good at this involvement stuff.
Good call dumpling, look after your legs! And Happy Birthday to Lily! Gers, great news! Nelski, woop woop, give em what for! [in a totally legal and non-threatening way of course] Speky, be careful that your work doesn't consume you. Balance in all things...SO, nice to hear you. In the words of Elsa, let it go. You can't do anything about that now, and it might be trite, but fogiveness, for both you and her are the order of the day. Might be helpful to go to a bereavement group to talk about it, I'm sure you'll find there are people in the same boat who have developed strategies to resolve things in their heads, because it strikes me that you are very dutiful, whether you want to be or not. Could be wrong though, so ignore me if that is of no help..TA, My OH ate tuna and jacket ptotato every day for about 3 years and i did a similar thing with pastrami and rocket roll, so you're not in that territory yet

Morning all,
Grey here too and it has rained during the night.I had thought about going in town but I think I'll do some tidying and tackle the ironing pile too.I need to pop the bm on as we are completely out of bread.I could have done it last night to be ready when we got up but dont want to risk waking the hound up and have her start barking. When it's in the bake phase & she can smell it, she goes and lies close by
DGS came yesterday afternoon as he wanted to see Daddy. We played football on the front lawn ( hmm is that why my back's aching this morning) and he kept giggling if I tried to tackle him.He wanted to learn how to be a goalie too as he has the gloves :rotfl:DS2 played as goalie when he still played so they both enjoyed that.I went in then and had a nice sit down!
Chicken risotto for tea tonight,it's so quick in the instant pot.Last night I made black bean and beef chilli in it too.One lot for the freezer too but we do need to start eating some of the stuff in there.
Hugs Silver-oldie, and anyone else who could do with one.
Speky and Nelski-hope work goes ok for you, and the rest of you have a nice day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning all. Lovely to have an extra day at the weekend. Speky - perhaps you didn't have enough time to relax away from work because of the busy business trip and so your brain is still in busy work mode. I hope you have a good day today.
SO - I hope you don't mind me putting in my "two pennuth worth". When I was grieving a wise person told me that the usual adage of "time is a great healer" can be adapted to "time is a great soother" and that has worked for me. It's a nice sentiment to be soothed and somehow more attainable than being healed.0 -
Morning everyone, another dulls day but not raining.
Silver Oldie, it had a 'complucated' relationship with my mum too and I also wish that it had been a better one but I've accepted that it was what it was. Her funeral is likely to be in w -3 weeks time, surprisingly, her local area is under pressure for funerals.
Every day I'm doing a bit more sorting and a bit more in the garden. I'm having to sit in the dining room now because the kitchen and halls floors are wet from mopping.
OH and DS will be out late afternoon so I'm cooking, it will be ribs and chicken with a bit of rice and salad. I think I might do the chicken in jerk spices.
Dumpling, happy birthday to your daughter.
Speky, when I was under pressure at work, ie most of the time, it was very easy to get very stress about things I might have missed, being late for deadlines etc - I think it was my brain's mechanism for giving free-floating anxiety a focus.
Hope everyone h's a good or at least tolerable day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -

I just wanted her to love me.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Afternoon all,
Cloudy with some sun outbreaks, so a pleasant day.
Had DGD 5 this morning as she has had a cough and head cold for a while DD4 felt that she could do with a bit of pampering , she was happy to be here and chatted almost nonstop until she sat back and watched ' Shaun the sheep' for a while.
Going to prepare somewhere to plant out the spinach seedlings that DIL1 sent me last night.....we always like to have some spinach somewhere, such a useful vegetable.
DD3 is on dinner duty tonight, chicken Kiev with whatever veg and potatoes she fancies......potato quality is not good at present, I see more pasta, rice and couscous on carb duty for the next month or so.
Have a good afternoon all.

Hi chums well you can pick your friends ,but not sadly your family, and family dynamics can be a minefield at times . My as I loved and respected my parents I had a very strict upbringing as they were both getting on in life when I suddenly appeared quite unexpectedly Dad was 55 and Mum 45 and so there was a complete generations gap. But one lives through it and survives My late Mum was strict with her three children but really was a different generation .bearing in mind when she was a teenager there was WW! going on and when I was it was the late 1950s and life was a totally different kettle of fish.
SO just try to think of the good times and forget the bad what's gone by won't be changed by stressing.
Weather not as warm today, but sun is forecast to return by the weekend I am off to quiz night tonight which I always enjoy.
Eldest Dd dropped me in someones wool stash that's been donated for my charity blankets so I shall be sorting it all out later.Had a trim as my hair was getting far too long so look reasonably respectable now
Hope you all have a good week
Cheers chums

Oh you poor love...some people are just not capable of behaviour that's classed as normal.
Wishing you strength, a good cry and hot sweet tea with a biscuit or two.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
