So moral of story, get your own back and screw the debt collectors.

You're not screwing the debt collectors though, they get paid whether you pay or not as they charge a fee to the creditor. At worst they lose a bit of commission.

Ultimately you're screwing the business you owed the money to. That may be a business who can ill afford it and if sufficient people take your attitude ultimately results in its closure putting people out of work and also having knock on effects with businesses that company owes money to, again with the possibility of similar catastrophic effects for them.

I've still got my property in England which I rent out.

This gives the debt collectors an option with regards to recovering the money owed.

Let it fall off your file and avoid paying towards it over a 6 year period.

    I did with 25k over 3 cards.

I’ve got better things to do with £600 min per month than give it to a rip-off merchant.

    Disgusting attitude to take.

I find your attitude really disappointing. You've come on here and the DFW boards, boasting about misusing the guidance and legislation, to get away with non-payment of 100k in debts. The guidance and legislation is there to protect vulnerable people...
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

    I love my job

Hi, Sorry for long delay in addressing all the new posts on the thread.
I am still undecided as to which way to go with this. I'm 43 this year and want to settle in Scotland with a mortgage, waiting another 2 years or for these cards to fall off my credit file might just be too long a time to wait. I'm still not sure what difference it will make to my score when these debts are not on my file?

It will make no difference to your score as it’s not a factor used in lending.

It will however make your credit history look cleaner
