Erin make some good compost always found B&Q verve to be fairly consistent, I have heard magic Jacks is good never used it though. Tried Wickes own multi purpose before and that was peat based but this years is terrible feels a bit unreal as if some of it has wool or something like that in it very fluffy.0

Anyone tried Wickes Top Soil and Farmyard Manure and can comment on quality. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
I don't often do 20-mile round trips to the garden centre, so tend to pick up the odd bag on our supermarket run. With this in mind, Aldi's peat-free compost has been good for larger plants/planters/pots, and surprisingly free from big bits. Their more expensive compost (which I've used to pot on seedlings, etc) feels better quality and things are growing well, but bizarrely it has more big bits in it. Go figure!0

We use Sinclair potting and bedding. Coarse enough for pots but needs to be sieved for finer seeds. I do mix bark in with it if I need to pot above 2litre. Food incorporated for 4-6 weeks so mix osmocote in to save having to feed to soon. Not sure if the compost available for retail but I do let my customers have it if they ask.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

My local Co op had 3 X 60 litre bags of Durstons multi purpose compost for £10 and I'm pleased with it. Good price too. I use John Innes for seedlings0

I'm a convert to Dalefoot. I order online from them and it's really good quality, moist, smells great and the plants have loved it every year.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
