If I only apply for the mobility component now, can I apply for the care component in the future?

I want to apply for the mobility component of PIP so I can get a bus pass.

I would qualify for the care component too, but I don't need the extra money right now and the form is such a nightmare to fill out.

If I only fill in the mobility section of the form this time, how would that affect me if I do need to apply for the care component in the future?

How long would I have to wait before I could apply for it? Would they use the fact that I didn't apply for it this time against me?

If you are only applying for PIP because you want a bus pass have you checked whether your local council requires you to be receiving PIP mobility?

I'm not sure why you would only want to fill out part of the form and go through all the procedure of claiming PIP not to claim for the daily living part as well.

Reporting in a change of circumstances in the future could be nightmare and if you're awarded when you apply this time, there's no guarantee you'll be awarded again with a change of circumstances.

My advice is if you're apply for PIP, fill all the form out to apply for both parts now because it just get ridiculous if you don't. Going through it once is bad enough, without putting yourself through it all needlessly again in the near future.

If you apply for PIP you will be assessed for both the Daily Living and Mobility components of the benefit.

If you don't complete the Daily Living section of the form, you will be less likely to get a Mobility award as your form will be inconsistent and not credible.

It is a bad idea, and will complicate any future renewals / supercessions/ appeals / applications.
