How Far in advance can I renew my passport

My passport expires in mid August 201. How far in advance can I renew it. If I use the Post office service costing around £82 how long does it take to receive the new passport.

You can make a 10 year passport application at any time but there is no longer any extra time added. If you renew this year you would have wasted 2 years of the 10 years you previously paid for...maybe look at the beginning of 2021...if you are planning on heading to places that require 6 months on the passport

2019? or 2021? (or some other year?)

As previous post says, you can renew any time but there is no longer any extra time added if you renew before expiry.

Do you have any travel plans?

Renewed both mine and my partners passports recently and got them both back in about 7 or 8 days I think


Same for driving licence, that came back after about 6 days
