Japanese horsetail (Equisetum japonicum) in a pond; will it spread outside
In local pond centre looking at plants for my pond
Was taken by this plant. Vertical structure would look really good.
Its being sold as an aquatic plant and would live with the roots submerged in water.
Didn't get them but was planning to get them tomorrow however, slightly confused about what is being said about its invasiveness.
Seems to be lots written suggesting these are v invasive if grown in soil.
Would the same apply as a pond plant?

It's not the same species of horsetail as the one that runs rampant in people's gardens. Provided you trust yourself to keep it in a basket and divide every few years, so it doesn't take over, there should be no big problem with it.
Edit: the theory is that one divides most pond plants every few years and disposes of the surplus, but my reality was it happening much more often than that!0
