    Trying to do as suggested in #10 above. I created a test folder with some files in. When I select Properties I don't see an option for Location?

    The mentioned "Location" is only for the system folders - My Documents, Pictures, Desktop etc.

    OK, that makes sense. I have all my photos (129Gb) on my D drive as it was bigger than my C drive so I'm not using My Photos. I have just bought my new laptop and am awaiting delivery so I will have to think carefully how to set it up.
