Why not leave them be? The ants do very little harm.

Why would black, or any other colour ants, be a problem?

Or are they blackfly, which are not really flies, but aphids?

If you've got ants on your plants, you've usually got aphids on there too.
The clumping daisies [ the ones about 2-3ft tall that will spread - can't remember what they're called] usually have blackfly, they're ntotorious for it, like broad beans.

Either spray them off with the hose or your choice of spray in a bottle, garlic, chilli, whatever.

I like the idea of a Tex-Mex spray. " Take that, gringos!" Pffffttttt!!! :rotfl:

If it is ants then you need to find the nest to get rid of them.

They usually have a route that they all go along , on after another, back to the nest which will be underground or under a large stone .

You can buy products to kill them at any DIY store.

I don't fear ants, or even aphids, it's the spider mites I keep a magnifying glass for........

If it is black ants and black aphids don't the ants just 'milk' the aphids for food rather than eat them.

I always use a hose pipe to wash the lot off.

Yes, the ants farm the aphids towards specific plants like the daisies, then feed off the honeydew that is produced by the mouth parts of the aphids when they feed. Clever eh?

I've got black aphids making a right mess of my Mock Orange bushes!!

We've tried washing them off and spraying with Bugclear, but still they persist.

Any good remedies??? Where are all the ladybirds when you need them!!
