Issue with Subscription

Hi all

Whilst shopping around recently and speaking to BT I realised that I have been making a mistake with my BT Sport.
I previously had a subscription with them via Sky....but then cancelled Sky in 2016. Unknowingly I was still being charged for BT sport as I then transferred to BT and didn't realise that BT sport was now being paid for twice.
So I have now cancelled the account that was coming through Sky...very silly on my part that I hadn't kept track of this.
So to sum up, I've been paying for BT Sport twice for the past couple of years. I know I should have kept check on this, and rectified sooner.
However BT originally said it is the customer's fault and they have supplied a subscription whether or not I was receiving it.
Since then they have offered me a goodwill gesture...of 3 months payment returned, a reduced subscription moving forwards and finally they added in an extra good........soundbar/hive controller/echo. I refused this as the same Retentions person told me it was a grey area when you stop using a supplier and fail to cancel an additional subscription that comes through it. Their reduced offer is still higher than if I started as a new customer with a couple of other suppliers. Also informed today that BT Sport is increasing it's prices again!

So do I have any further rights?
What would you expect as a suitable conclusion?

I expect to appeal and seek a different resolution as I feel 3 months is not enough(and I'm not sure what I think is suitable)
Should digital companies have a better way of handling issues when you receive a service through a different supplier.
I would be grateful for any help people. I am aware I have done wrong however don't think this is fair at all. :(

I'm sure I'm not the only person this has happened to.

Many thanks in advance.

I would take the goodwill gesture and keep a closer eye on bills in the future.

Well it might not be "fair" in your eyes but its not BT's fault you cancelled your Sky and then forgot to cancel your BT Sports and you ultimately ended up paying for it twice.

Take the three months rebate you've been offered and move on. Consider yourself lucky you got anything offered at all.
