Missing cash deposit

Options
Hi,
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? I deposited £380 at a local post office branch via the card reader (over a week ago now) but it has not been credited to my bank account. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the receipt. The PO deny any responsibility and refuse to give me any transaction details at all - not even the specific time of transaction or reference number.
My bank is also proving difficult to get a resolution to this problem although the PO informed me there is a department called the Financial Information Centre that deals with queries relating to deposits /transactions processed on behalf of banks.
I am concerned that CCTV at the PO will soon not be available to evidence my presence and deposit. I am stuck between both the PO and bank with little hope at the moment of getting my money back.

One option would be for you to submit a formal complaint to the post office

give them as much information as you can Google how to do it

if nothing else you might get some information about a transaction ID date and time etc etc which you might find useful if you need to contact your bank

it may well be and I'm not saying this is true of course that you either put slightly wrong details or someone misread the details of the and themoney is sitting somewhere in some holding account at your bank but until you can find out more information that would have been on your receipt it is an unlikely the bank will be able to help although you could ask them to look as you know the amount and approximate date and time

Sorry but if you have no receipt then you are going to find it very difficult to get a resolution in your favour.
With a receipt the bank would have put the money in your account by now and chased it up with the P.O.
One thing I would check is - have you checked all cards in your wallet/purse in case you mistakenly paid it in to the wrong account?

Something is amiss here - if you entered a card (and PIN?) then the cash must have been credited to an account unless there was a problem with the card reader - but you say that you got a receipt but not kept it - so that seems unlikely.

    Good luck.
