O/S Daily Saturday 25th May 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
ancientofdays - sorry to hear your sad news, thinking of you x
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunshine again to start the day here, but temperature has dropped and forecast is not so good from tomorrow.
DH and myself enjoying first cuppas, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my porridge as I'm working this morning. One of my colleagues needed cover for today and as we have no particular plans I said I'd do it. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was a bit disjointed, as DH was late in, DS1 had bacon, mushroom, and cheese omelette and chips. I had a veg stir fry made up of bits out of the bottom of the fridge veg drawer and some frozen oriental veg and some smoked sausage that needed using up, I stir fried it all off, and added some chilli tomato paste, tomato puree, soy sauce and added some water to give it some sauce - very tasty it was too. DH had an egg and bacon sandwich when he got in. Not sure what we'll be eating tonight but the fridge is packed - I shopped yesterday at a different store and I thought the bill was going to be £120-£125 - but it came in at £105 which I was very happy about, I have bought quite a lot of meat etc that's why I thought it would be more expensive, I bought a gammon joint which we may have instead of a traditional roast tomorrow. I want to start getting away from that as it gets warmer. Ironing got done.
We'll be visiting the parents at some point over the weekend and just generally chilling.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone, thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.
Thank you all for your kind words, they do help. I had a long chat with mum a few days before she died, and it was a pleasant conversation so I'm glad about that.
I spent much of yesterday working on the garden and will probably do the same again today -it is very overgrown and weed-infested. But it is lovely to have a garden. The quantity of weeds between the paving stones us too much for hand-weeding and I've caved in and got OH to buy me some weed killing spray. This is neither OS nor environmentally good but I'm making up for a lot of horticultural neglect.
JackieO I hope your bruises are fading and that your tooth isn't hurting.
Thoughts are with those who are struggling.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks.
A calm start to the day so far. I'm not sure what the day will hold yet though I'm hoping to meet up with friends who are in town.
Happy Saturday to all.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need especially jackieO and AOD.
We're in Crick, for the boat show, we went to the preview day yesterday and will go back today then set off home.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun is shining but it sounds like this is going to be our last dry day after the long run of nice weather.
Last night I made up for my previous night's rubbish sleep. I managed 8 hours solid! That must be a record for me! I didn't get my nanna nap yesterday afternoon though as loud drilling and banging from next door put paid to that!
I think I may get the bus to Ilkley today. One or two treats I need (ok want!) from M & S Food and then onwards to the cs in the vain hope they might still have one of those bottle lamps left. Fingers crossed for me but I think it may be a forlorn hope after over 2 weeks!
Lunch may well be an M & S sandwich or a Greggs pastie whilst sitting in the sunshine! I think I will leave some chicken out defrosting for my tea. Yet to decide what to transform it into. Maybe smothered chicken.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried, lonely or bereaved who need them. Thinking of you all and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
As yesterday was such a lovely day I took my lunch and sat in the park people watching for a while. It is much cooler and cloudy today so I can't see a repeat. I think today will be a general pottering day.
AOD I am really sorry to hear your news. It's good that your last conversation with her was a pleasant one x
TA have a good trip to Ilkley.
JackieO I hope that your tooth and the bruises are settling down now x
Taff I hope that the weekend entertaining goes well.
Gers hopefully you will be able to meet up with your friends, it gives you a bit of a break from caring duties.
Hester enjoy the boat show.
Have a good Saturday everyone x0 -
Morning

TA whats your secret ...I managed 4 hrs last night
jackiemum everything happens for a reason I believe ma and you are being given a slow down message. Poor you though that would have hurt. Please slow down your adopted daughter is worried now :A
Heading for a walk to sainsbobs soon for essential supplies. walking means less ability to go mad and buy the shop out which I need financially wise.
Working today I have so much to do it will likely stretch to tomorrow and Monday too but I suspect its these niggling things to do that are keeping me awake. I will suck up a working weekend if it means my brain stops nagging me
Anyway on a positive I will have my feet up on the couch and can nip out for some sun and discussion time with my chilli plants ....I know I know but they are doing so well
Will also have my hour with my age uk lady and have hubby James on in the background so all good
Food wise I will be starting on freezer 2 today so who knows what unlabelled treasures await me.
Oh and a few wash loads needed to be done. I bet you are all so jealous of my exciting holiday weekend
Have a great time all if you can and keep smiling if possible ...it helps0 -
NELSKI I wish I knew the secret! I would have a good sleep every night if I did. I think every so often the lack of sleep catches up and I have an occasional good sleep. Maybe NAN's Sandman escaped last night! Hope he visits you tonight x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Morning all! Did my jobs before they got here, went shopping for salad and the little bits and pieces that go with it, father managed half a roll and some coleslaw, and then a very small bit of fish and some chips. Fair to say I am definitely worried about him, this is not him at all, he also looks a bit white..
We are out with friends for lunch after, will see how he manages with that. He's liking the pouffe so a good job there.
Hugs for AOD and SO...Jackie, time for you to slow too yes? TA, rsult on the sleep! Nelski, yes, you too have a superchilled weekend, in amongst the worky worky stuff...Holly, it's nice to get out and about and enjoy yourself isn't it? I find even when I sit in the garden I'm thinking about a list of jobs I have to do, must stop that..
Wotcha missings, have a great weekend if you can.
Slowdown Saturday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
