N Power bill

I wonder if anyone could help. We decided to change energy companies in 2016 from NPower. We were billed a final bill of £3390.13 based on a estimate reading. We had paid a direct debit monthly and was never informed by NPower that the amount we were paying meant that we were accuring such a big debt. After months of arguing, spending hours on hold, we were advised to set up a repayment plan. We have been paying £80 a month since. I still feel angry paying this each month as I cannot believe that we actually owe it but we unable to provide proof. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

More information needed, how much did u pay a month? Size of house, length of time with npower how was home heated?

Also you say they used an estimated meter reading to close your account, did u provide a reading to the new supplier in 2016? As this is your responsibly, so any closing read would be the same read the new supplier opened on. You have 12 months to dispute the reading for it to be changed, however you need to check both readings were the same for change over should it not be it can be changed.

Just re-read this - this final bill goes back to 2016 . Have you the opening readings from your new supplier and do they agree with nPower closing readings. Have you nPower bills while you were with them.

The clue seems to be "estimated" - read your meter NOW and get an updated bill - it may be less (or more)
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Why don't you think you owe the money nPower say you do?

Look at the bill they sent you. If you still have cause for complaint, all suppliers have a complaint procedure.

Why are you only moaning about this after 3 years of paying the supplier the debt, having set up a repayment plan with them?
