Cost of replacing existing dormer with a wider one

I live in a chalet bungalow and the existing dormer is part of a small bathroom i would like to enlarge by replacing the flat roofed dormer with a wider one , say, twice the width.There is also flu which has been capped at the height of the roof but I also wondered if remove it to the level of just below the first floor and cap it there. That would give me a it extra space to have some inbuilt wardrobes fitted in a bedroom adjacent to the bathroom.anyone have an idea off cost for the dormer replacement ? Thanks

You wouldn't normally need an architect for something like that, just get a few reputable builders round and point to how wide you'd like the new dormer to be. They should be able to work out what's necessary in terms of support and make their calculations accordingly.0

They would be lucky to find a builder who is willing and able to take on the job of becoming lead designer and making arrangements for the necessary approvals.
It sounds like the OP needs to get a couple of builders to have a look at the property and give a rough estimate of what the project might cost so they can decide whether or not to go to the next stage of the process.
And they need a competent person to advise on what the flue actually is, and whether it can be removed/altered. (and if it is a flue, to confirm it isn't asbestos)0 -

Many thanks for your reply .I will certainly look into your suggestions.When I mistakenly mentioned the flue I was referring to the chimney itself which may well be lined with asbestos as the house was built in the 30sArgentine by birth,English by nature0
