Who is warranty with?

Hi. Hope someone can advise me? I bought a secondhand Hyundai Santa Fe 2012 model from a private seller on the 30th April 2019. The car has a full service history and a receipt for a flywheel and clutch fitted on the 10th April 2019 by an independent garage . A few days ago the car started making a knocking noise from gear box area of the car so I took it to a Hyundai dealer who advised me that the noise is coming from the flywheel. I contacted the garage that fitted the new one on the 10th April and had an encouraging conversation with the girl on the phone who said the owner of the garage would call me back. After an hour or so the girl called me back and stated that the warranty was with the previous owner and not the car and that they won’t look at the car unless the previous owner takes it to them! Surely this isn’t correct is it? Please can any advise me if this is true or not? Many thanks.

If the warranty is for the previous owner and he's sold it then there's no warranty.

It is correct. The contract was between the person who employed them to do the job and paid for the repair/items and the company who did the job. Any warranty is only transferrable if the terms of the company say it is, there is no automatic right.
