Parking fines

Hello
I am new here, and now very anxious.
I moved 16 months ago, redirecting my post for 12 months. In that time I did not change my DVLA details as I was planning on moving south nearer my family, which has been delayed. DVLA has been updated since.
Problem is, on January 4th this year I met up with some friends over from Australia at a great place called Holmes Mill in Clitheroe. They were late and on arrival we had a drink, then a meal, then a look around the food hall and had a coffee. At no time was myself and family, or my friends aware of the 3 hour parking limit in the mill car park.
Because my post redirection came to an end in January I never received any letters about a parking fine from ES Parking Enforcement Ltd, until now. I have received a letter from Gladstones solicitors, with a Letter before Claim ( with my old address on) wanting £160. Apart from the date of the incident there is no mention of times, how long I was over the parking limit or any photo’s of my car entering or leaving the car park. I have 14 days to send the money but feel it is extortionately charged.
Any help would be very gratefully received.
Thank you

Edit your post to remove information about who did what. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper, who are two different people.
Then, get stuck into the guide to court written by bargepole that you will find in post 2 of the sticky thread for NEWBIES.
Use the Forum Jump "Go" button you will find near the top or bottom right of this page that will take you to the main parking page where you will find the NEWBIES.
By the way, it is not a fine.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
Everyone is asked to read up on this in the Newbies FAQ threadnear the top of the forum
Go there now to learn about the game you are now caught up in
It is important that you now inform the PPC of your correct address
Otherwise you may end up with a ccj by default that you know nothing about!
You will learn from the FAQ that you are now too late to appeal, and that your options are to pay up (not recommended) or prepare to defend this in Court! You should remove details of who was driving! The PPCS monitor here andcan use your posts against you0 -
I have 14 days to send the money
But you do need to email the PPC's Data Protection Officer to rectify your address data and tell them to 'erase' the old address data immediately and note that your address for service is {new address}. You can find the DPO's email in the PPC's PRIVACY page.
Acronyms are explained in post #5 of the NEWBIES thread that you need to read.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0 -
These are not fines, they are private invoices for the damage the PPC alleges they suffered when, allegedly, you breached a contract they allege you had agreed with them, we call them scams. They only need to be paid if a judge orders you to.
Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
