    Looks like 'your system' was compromised, not the banks or Amazon's?

    I agree, I would go further and suggest to OP that if he has been hacked to check out other online services as well, they may well have other sites compromised like paypal or even a banking ap.

    Yep, only one person to 'blame' here and it's not Amazon or the RBS.

    Exactly the same sort of thing happened to me, finally got a refund for the a gift card after contacting them via social media, bank refunded the cash purchase (Nationwide)

    Yes, it looks like the OP should be prioritising ensuring his computer is made secure again before chasing refunds from parties which are clearly not at fault.
