My company car has failed mot on emissions. Garage are unable to look at it until Tuesday. I am a remote engineer and use the car for work daily. My company are requesting that I do service calls on the train, which I am not prepared to do. Also now without a car for bank holiday weekend. Can anyone help me as to where I stand with this problem.
Thank you in advance

It's not really a motoring problem is it?
If the mot has expired you can't use for the bank holiday until it's got a new ticket.0 -
Hire one???Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Go to a different garage willing to do the work faster??0

Does the company lease this car - or is it there own car.
Many companies lease the cars now and if so speak to the leasing company. Or ask for a pool car.
Or as mentioned look into hire car with company paying.0 -
If you need a vehicle get the firm to hire you one.0

Is it a company car or your car you use for work? Can't see the company being bothered about you not having a car for the bank hols unless you are working. If you need a vehicle for work, and the company are required to provide you a vehicle for work, and you don't have a vehicle for work, then you can't work. Ask them for paid time off until the vehicle is repaired. Really, they should have something in place rotuinely, as you can't use it when it's in for MOT/Service/Repair throughout the year anyway. What do the other engineers do? It's down to your employer.0

Thanks for your answers. The car is owned outright by the company and is used daily. As it has failed mot I cannot move it elsewhere, anyway they have an account at this garage. Have asked for a hire car as had work to do today. They say the new policy is that if you require a hire car you have to pay yourself, can claim back but have to wait 5 weeks. I told them I am not prepared to pay out of my own pocket.0

As it has failed mot I cannot move it elsewhere...
Has the MoT actually expired?0 -
Is the entitlement to company car in your work contract.
Waiting five weeks for payment is about the norm when making claim to a company, if it is a new policy - have you had written or email of the change!!0
