No. Just write your own letter. Templates have a high rejection rate as they're generally untrue.

are there special template Letters at MSE to use for PPI, that allow me to ask on my late Father's behalf
No. Your type of "complaint" is the exception rather than the rule and so there will be no template letter suitable for your circumstance. Do you even have the right to make enquiries on his behalf? If you are not the executor of his estate then you won't have that right I'm afraid. It's more likely that only your Mother can make a complaint (though you can of course help her to write any letters).

Please realise that finding a few account numbers is not evidence that your father ever purchased any PPI. PPI is only refunded if it was actually paid and, even then, it has to have been mis-sold. Refunds are not granted simply for having the insurance.

As I said at the outset, your main problem is going to be that neither you nor the banks concerned still have any records of his old finance or any attached PPI.

this is just a guess on my part
You can't just "guess", you need hard evidence that there was PPI and very robust reasons for saying the policies (if any) were mis-sold. A very uphill battle, I'm afraid.
  • Can I just echo what has already been said about claiming yourself if you feel that you need to.

I spend most of my days dealing with these CMC's. The work that they claim to put in, is a generic letter sent by secondhand mail and often asking for a great deal more information about you, than you would want them to have.

You will receive a reply more quickly by doing it yourself as you are cutting out the middleman and not paying anything from a potential payment
I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!

Thank you for your responses, but think I have this in hand now, and yes I do have the right to make enquiries on his behalf.

I shall keep you informed as this is going through for my Dad, but with me working on his behalf
