bt option1 + 8mg broadband cheaper options?

Can anyone get my bills down please. Paying £45.93 for broadband as above plus £28 for option 1 rental, when only have £8 of call charges for whole quarter!! Have been hit with £10 month xs useage charge as have just found out about torrents. Basically need an overview of the whole thing. Can anyone help please ?

    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Thats a very good question sweety! Which I have been attempting to ask on another thread although coupled with satellite television too.I am sure that Heinz's knowledgable answer is correct but the whole question/answer is now so complex that an easy one word recommendation is perhaps not possible.I certainly detest paying the BT charges!!
